On July 4, 2023,Sichuan Shunying Power Battery Material Co., Ltd. and Southwest University of Science and Technology held a signing ceremony in the administration building of Southwest University of Science and Technology on the project of full quantification and high quality utilization of lithium salt solid waste based on the new technology of nitric acid pressurization.Zhao Lin, chairman of Sichuan Shunying Power Battery Material Co., Ltd.and Dong Faqin, Secretary of Party Committee , Southwest University of Science and Technology, attended the signing ceremony.
The lithium salt solid waste full quantization and high quality utilization project based on the new nitric acid pressurization technology is an extension of the comprehensive utilization project of the new nitric acid pressurization leaching technology of lithium ore, and is the main part of the green process route of the whole process from "lithium pyroxene ore - battery grade lithium carbonate products - comprehensive utilization of tailings". The application and popularization of nitric acid pressure leaching technology in the fields of "ore storage integration" and "waste recycling" will be further promoted. The main research contents of the project are as follows: (1) Establish a complete set of key technologies for the production and preparation of high-quality cement, high-performance concrete and new low-carbon cementing materials based on pressure leaching of lithium salt solid waste by nitric acid, and form an application model that can be replicated, promoted and used for reference. (2) Develop high-quality new products and technologies such as premix for nitric acid pressure leaching of lithium salt solid waste UHPC, structural repair and reinforcement materials, and 3D printing ink materials, and establish engineering application demonstration and technical standards. (3) Explore the technical feasibility of using nitric acid pressure leaching of lithium salt solid waste to prepare aerogel, cement energy storage battery and aviation safety arrest engineering materials, and build new ways and application scenarios of high value-added utilization of such solid waste. The expected goals of the project are: (1) apply for no less than 20 national invention patents; (2) Formulate 1 enterprise standard, 1 national group or Sichuan provincial local standard; (3) Cultivating 5~10 master/doctoral students; (4) Obtaining 1 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievement appraisal and 1 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievement award; (5) Constructing an engineering technology research center.

At the meeting, Zhao Lin pointed out that Sichuan Shunying Power Battery Material Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as: Sichuan Shunying) is a national high-tech enterprise adhering to the concept of "environmental protection and circular economy" and "only producing products and not producing waste products", focusing on the ternary precursor of power lithium-ion battery materials and focusing on the efficient development, comprehensive utilization and integration of metal and mineral resources of complex and diversified energy,Sichuan Shunying has always insisted on "carrying out research and development to the end", built a Shunying Material Science Research Institute, equipped with chemical, new materials, chemical metallurgy, equipment automation and other old, young and full-time R & D personnel of 90 people, with independent intellectual property rights of "nitric acid pressure leaching recycling technology" can achieve 99.9% nitric acid recycling. It has been successfully applied to complex multi-mineral or industrial solid waste such as low-grade laterite nickel ore, spodumene, fly ash, vanadium titanium metallurgical slag, phosphorus potassium ore, and the effect and cost are significantly better than the current sulfuric acid process for complex multi-mineral treatment, providing a new solution for the national industrial solid waste resource utilization, and promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature. At the same time, Zhao Lin hopes to take this cooperation as an opportunity to communicate more and cooperate with Southwest University of Science and Technology to jointly develop new cooperation topics, jointly cultivate personnel, share scientific research resources, and jointly declare scientific research awards, so as to achieve a "win-win situation" between the university and the enterprise.

Secretary Dong Fa Qin pointed out that solid waste is only a "depleted material", should be functional, resource, high-tech development, based on the new technology of nitric acid pressure lithium salt solid waste full quantification and high-quality utilization project is very innovative, provide us with a new direction and concept, carbon emissions of the whole chain "gene" transformation and precious metal as the main line of the whole chain, the whole "life cycle" development; Southwest University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive university with "interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary integration". It hopes to jointly explore the construction of a new research and development platform, jointly carry out technological innovation and method theory research, and jointly develop and promote the application of key engineering technologies, so as to serve the security of national resources and the construction of new industrialization in Sichuan Province. At the same time, Secretary Dong Faqin requested that the project team that undertakes this cooperation should live up to their trust, take on heavy responsibilities, innovate and lead, overcome difficulties, complete the project research objectives on time and with quality, and hand in satisfactory answers to Sichuan Shunying.
